AGRI-FOOD MARKET – SESTU
The Fruit and Vegetable Market, part of the Agri-Food Market, was inaugurated in May 2007, providing the agricultural economy of Sardinia with a covered facility covering 40,000 square metres, of which 28,000 are dedicated to sales and storage areas. In addition, 12,000 square metres were set aside for the trading gallery and common loading and unloading operations with 16 ramps. Another 80,000 square metres are dedicated to internal roads and car parks.
A CROSSROADS FOR TRADE
The complex is located between the main road 131, at the big junction located at kilometre thirteen, and 130, the main roads which depart from the Sardinian capital and head, the first, to the north of the island, the second to the Sulcis Iglesiente. The location takes advantage of the proximity to both the port and the airport of Cagliari.
SARDINIA’S AGRI-FOOD CHAIN
The objective of the agri-food market is to encourage synergies between local production companies in the agri-food chain and wholesale operators, in direct contact with organized distribution, for the growth and development of the sector.
